5: Presentation: Zemni 2020 (September 2020)

5.1 Re-assessing my practice and finishing my work

The primary focus of skills development in this module has been of images and narratives based on photographic media and development of software skills. I will review and revise the outputs from Assignments 2-4 in the light of feedback and reach some conclusions about the best forms of presentation/ changes I still need to make/further possibilities to reach a wider range of audience. This will focus on finalising my photography-based outputs in the form of photo-books, animated experiences, interactive web galleries and stock photography.

5.2 Further development: Edges revisited

I then apply what I have learned from photographic media, narrative possibilities and audience to other media that I worked with in previous courses, revisiting some earlier projects and using new material.

5.2.1 Printscapes

Using selected photographic landscapes and documentary images from East Anglia as the basis for series of social and environmental documentary prints in different printmaking media (silkscreen, photo-lithography, woodcut, linocut, collagraph, drypoint and monoprint), also produced as postcards for marketing on-line.

5.2.2 Moot Tales

Sketchbook and further work (or proposal) for ways of developing some of my more imaginative work from ‘found texture narratives’ as a book of short pieces and/or After Effects experiences on the new Zemni You Tube channel.

5.2.3 White Peak Dark Peak: Sketchwalks

5.2.4 The Island

5.3 Talking about my practice: portfolio

In addition to finalising the current blog, I will add relevant material from this module and other audience-relevant information to:

  • zemniimages.com my professional SMUGMUG website which will be redesigned to link the different aspects of my work

5.4 Self Promotion and presenting my practice

In addition to continuing to circulate on social networks for different media on Facebook and exploring the links in Exercise 4.3, I will add relevant material from this module and other audience-relevant information to:

  • zemniimages printmaking blog  (currently 1-2,000 visitors a month) – this would add further details of printmaking techniques based on my work in this module. Many of my visitors visit the site through links to technical information and information on other printmakers. This will be updated, but also point people in the direction on on-line purchasing of my own work either as digital downloads and/or cards and/or prints.
  • After Effects tasters on a new Zemni You Tube Channel.
  • submission of my work to a range of marketing sites

I will send selected work to the various on-line commercial card and print marketing sites, and approach some of the card and book shops in Cambridge and East Anglia and explore opportunities to present some of my printmaking at print exhibitions in Cambridge and elsewhere.
